There is a small complication. 𝗪𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁. We fully meant to, then other projects ate the calendar, so we turned up as guests instead.

Last year we were on the floor and ran the DPP seminar with FTA KOFOTI. This year we sat in the audience at "𝘈 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘦 & 𝘍𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺: 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵 𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴 (𝘋𝘗𝘗)" at Coex and listened.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺.
Our brand partner BLACKYAK Co., Ltd. presented their DPP programme, from the 2025 Global Convention pilot through to 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗣𝗣 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝘀. Next to the question of whether a DPP will actually interoperate in global markets, their sustainability lead had cited 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝘼𝙍𝙀 𝙄𝘿 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙧 that CIRPASS-2 - Digital Product Passport published as a use case. Other speakers referred to us as a DPP service provider that can be relied on. Which we did not arrange, and appreciated all the more for it. So perhaps the headline held up after all. A few points from the interview:

𝙊𝙣 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜.
The Commission's indicative timeline puts adoption of 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗤𝟰 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳. But the slow part of DPP readiness is supply chain persuasion, and getting mills and trim suppliers to produce usable data takes seasons. Brands selling only in Korea sit outside ESPR, but not outside the direction of travel.

𝙊𝙣 𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙥𝙚.
DPP is not an IT project. The data comes from production, sourcing and quality floors, not the server room.

What suppliers need first is a basic data organisation, pre-DPP tooling, and onboarding they can afford.
